What is an EAP?
An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is a completely confidential service that helps your employees to overcome issues that may affect their work or personal life. It gives them and their families access to counselling and advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Why do I need an EAP?
The benefits of an EAP are wide ranging and include increased productivity and efficiency and a reduction in the number of working days lost as a result of stress-related illnesses, personal or career issues, absenteeism, injuries and disciplinary actions. It also helps to increase staff engagement and retention and manage harassment, bullying and discrimination.
For employees, an EAP encourages them to take positive steps towards addressing problems before they reach crisis stage. It helps them distinguish between problems at work and at home and minimises the long-term impact on their work performance
