The Small Business Of The Year – the most competitive category of the night – went to recruitment firm Renovo of York. First established in 2004, it was forced to reduce its own headcount from 18 to six by the end of 2008. But the business reinvented itself, and now employs 27 people who help private and public-sector organisations and government agencies with recruitment, employee retention and making redundancies.
